It’s been a rather remarkable 2021 for The Canada Files. This news outlet switched to an investigative focus, from a previous focus on fast releases which led to multiple articles per day occasionally. We broke numerous key stories through critical investigations. Once we broke the story of how a Canadian parliament sub-committee on Xinjiang was flooded with groups funded by the CIA-front National Endowment for Democracy, and directly led to a Canadian parliament vote falsely declaring a genocide in Xinjiang, we never looked back.

We had Daniel Xie join as an Associate Editor early this year and had award-winning journalist and three-time author Arnold August join as a Contributing Editor a month ago. We launched a fundraising campaign this August, and as of today, we’ve reached $1105 Canadian per month in support. We gained more than 700 Facebook followers, 800 newsletter subscribers, and 2000 Twitter followers during the year! We even hit our two-year anniversary since our founding, on November 28, 2021.

If you can, please consider setting up a recurring (monthly or annual) donation to support this journalism. One-time donations are also appreciated of course, though recurring donations help us build towards more stability.

It’s really been quite the year, so we’ve chosen 10 articles that The Canada Files is proud to have published in 2021. Check them out below!

A final note, we’re also listing our articles this year which focus on, or mention the plight faced by Julian Assange, for the crime of doing journalism. The Canada Files is proud to have consistently opposed the US empire’s efforts to persecute Assange, ever since our founding in November 2019.

  1. Press Forward board of directors member Rachel Pulfer refused to resist persecution of Julian Assange, as JHR executive director | Written by: Aidan Jonah

  2. Canada should apply its Declaration Against Arbitrary Detention to free Meng Wanzhou | Written by: William Dere

  3. Cape Verde follows in Canada’s treatment of Meng Wanzhou: illegally extradites Alex Saab to the USA | Written by: John Philpot and Roger D. Harris

Editor’s note: The Canada Files has spent two years doing critical investigative reporting on Canada's imperialist foreign policy. We’ve established a clear track record of exposing the truth Canada's political establishment hides from you. There's so much more we can do, but only with your financial support.

When TCF's monthly support reaches $1250 CAD per month, up from $1105 per month at present, we'll introduce the #uponfurtherinvestigation initiative! Check out this thread for more details.

Please consider setting up a monthly or annual donation through Donorbox.

Aidan Jonah is the Editor-in-Chief of The Canada Files, a socialist, anti-imperialist news outlet founded in 2019. Jonah has broken numerous stories, including how the Canadian Armed Forces trained neo-Nazi "journalist" Roman Protasevich while he was with the Azov Battalion, and how a CIA front group (the NED) funded the group (URAP) which drove the "Uyghur genocide" vote in parliament to pass this February. Jonah recently wrote a report for the 48th session of the UN Human Rights Council.
